This document lists some features that have been integrated into RedSky to provide ease of access for the users. There are endless possibilities for different usability and configuration enhancements and the project team solicits feedback from users in this regard.

Remembering Login

This option allows users to avoid typing ID and password for accessing the system.  There is a "remember" option that you can click so that next time you open RedSky, the login prompts will be pre-filled for you.

Some browser settings will also prompt you, see the bar on top for Remembering the Password?, if you click Remember the password will be remembered.

Caution: You want to click these options on a secure computer only – one that only you use and not in a public place.

Configurability

The system provides you configurability to customize the system behavior for your usage, the features can be accessed from the My Account option on the top activity menu.

For the changes to take affect you need to log out of the system and log back in and the changes will work from any computer.

Change Password

Click on my account and enter the new password that you would like in the Password and Confirm Password fields.  The system will ensure that there is no issue with the password.  Please note that the password is fully encrypted so if you forget it, the Admin can reset it to a new value but cannot retrieve you old password.

Work hours, reminder defaults and starting menus and screens

The Configuration section of My Accounts has other features to modify some of the system behaviors.

The work hours defaults are useful for Sales Persons who use the Event functions to block full day events, the start and begin hours are defaulted from here.

The reminder options provides the default reminder that you will like to set when setting reminder notes.

The Login Starting URL provides an option for you to specify the Menu that you will like to open after you log into the system.  Thus if you generally go to Service Order menu, you can set the same and the system after logging you will display the Service Order Search Page.

The Default Tab for Service Order option is also very useful and will reduce navigation time.  Please look at recommendations in the table below, but remember, you are not being excluded from any tab, but rather are picking the one that you mostly work on.

Opening multiple pages

RedSky allows multiple screens to be opened simultaneously.  Due to system integrity issues, you cannot do this from tabs but generally, you can click on menu items.  This functionality is best illustrated via an example:

  • You are looking at a service order and then want to run some reports.

  • To do so, you would take the mouse to the Mgmt. Info Menu

  • Hover down to the Report Menu, instead of left-clicking the mouse, do a right-click

  • This will bring up a browser menu, select Open Link in New Tab.

  • A new tab of the reports menu will open, your Service Order tab is still available.

You can click between tabs at will; please try to restrict the open tabs to a manageable number – up to 4.

Bread Crumbs

The row below the Menus (which keeps expanding with items) has hyperlinks in it which are called bread crumbs:

These bread crumbs allow you to directly navigate back to a screen that you visited a few pages back.  There are some places where the bread crumbs break but generally they will provide you another navigation path.

Printing or Saving Reports

When user select Reports, they get a choice of multiple formats for output, e.g. PDF, Word, etc.

Sometimes when you click the icon, e.g. PDF, it may straight away open the form/report or dump it onto your desktop.  This happens if you change the option in the popup box to save the file.

We do not recommend this option but if the files are automatically saving then you can revert back by going to:

The FireFox Browsers --> Tools --> Options --> Applications tab: Then changing the action on the content that is behaving differently.
